COLLECTION AND TRANSPORTATİON OF WASTE

One of Altaş's primary areas of activity is the collection and transportation of waste products from streets and avenues. Altaş carries out these tasks at all municipalities that it serves with a large fleet of vehicles and skilled employees, collecting waste in containers according to specified schedules and transporting it to transfer stations.

SWEEPING AVENUES, STREETS AND CITY SQUARES

Avenues, streets and city squares are cleaned by workers with various equipment and trash is dumped into containers to be transferred to transport vehicles.

SWEEPING AND WASHING STREETS WITH MACHINERY

The heavy pace of city life results in pollution that must be cleaned quickly and effectively for the sake of the health of city residents. To this end, Altaş cleans main avenues and broad streets with specially designed sweepers and sprinkling trucks.

WASHING AND DISINFECTING WASTE CONTAINERS

Waste containers are by nature objects that become polluted and quickly become an eyesore and a hazard to the environment. In order to prevent pollution that can accumulate over time, Altaş frequently cleans waste containers with special disinfecting vehicles.

COLLECTION OF UNDERGROUND AND ABOVE GROUND CONTAINER

Altaş is a company that has introduced many technologies to Turkey for the first time. One of these new technologies is an underground and above ground container collection system brought in from Italy that is only used in a few countries in the world. Placed in strategic central locations, these containers provide sanitation without blemishing the landscape and are collected without human intervention by waste collection vehicles that have robotic capabilities.

CLEANING OF ROADS AND NEIGHBORHOOD MARKETPLACES

Fruit and vegetable markets are set up on the streets of nearly every neighborhood in Istanbul, resulting in a certain amount of refuse that must be removed so that streets will be clean and usable again. For this reason, garbage is collected immediately after the market closes, on the night of the same day and marketplaces are washed with sprinkler trucks and swept. In a few hours the streets are as clean as if the market had never been set up.

COLLECTION OF CONSTRUCTION WASTE

Heavy materials such as construction waste are sometimes not disposed of in designated areas, but Altaş's large fleet of machinery includes heavy-duty, rubber-tired loaders that collect this waste and load it into municipal trucks that can dump it at organized storage areas.

COLLECTION OF MEDICAL WASTE

Medical Waste Control Regulations require that medical waste from medical facilities such as hospitals and clinics within city limits be collected by specially-equipped, licensed vehicles. This medical waste is collected by Altaş and delivered to Greater Istanbul Municipality's Odayeri Incineration Unit, which is operated by İSTAÇ.

SANITATION OF ANIMAL SACRIFICE LOCATIONS

During the Muslim Sacrifice Holiday, many bacteria are exposed at animal sacrifice locations, threatening public health and creating visual pollution. Altaş disinfects these areas with special sanitation materials during and after the Sacrifice Holiday and buries the resulting wastes in areas specified by the municipality.

ROAD CLEARING AND SALTING OPERATIONS

Although clearing streets after heavy snowfall in winter is not within the scope of our services, Altaş's professional staff considers it their social responsibility to support the salting, snowplowing and road clearing operations carried out by the municipality.

CLEANING BEACHES

Residents of Istanbul have not been able to use their beaches for nearly 40 years. Consequently, cleaning these beaches and opening them for public use is of great importance. Public beaches located within the city limits, which become particularly polluted during the summer months, are cleaned by specially trained staff with specially designed vehicles. Trash left by people and marine waste brought by wind and waves are collected daily to eliminate environmental and aesthetic pollution.

REMOVAL OF POSTERS

Altaş gives equal importance to aesthetic elements as it does to sanitation and hygiene in the area where it works. The scope of Altaş's services includes anything that damages the aesthetics of the city. In keeping with this, all posters, placards and advertisements that are hung on walls illegally within city limits that disturb the aesthetics of streets and avenues are cleaned up with pressurized water and special equipment.

SORTING OF PACKAGING WASTE

ASorting of packaging waste is one of the most important stages in recycling. Packaging waste is collected from areas where city sanitation services are given and taken to sorting stations where it is sorted and stored for recycling. Special recycling containers are also distributed to residences, allowing recycling to take place where the packaging waste is generated.
